In Search of the Perfect Pie

In honor of Pi Day (3/14/15), let’s talk about pie and the search for the mysterious existence of the perfect pie.

Honestly, I didn’t have a deep love for pies, unless chocolate was involved. πŸ™‚

But after the bumper crop sweet potato harvest I had last fall, I decided to make sweet potato pies for Thanksgiving. I’m hooked.

Because, yum.

What about you? What’s your favorite kind of pie? Are you celebrating Pi Day?

  1. Funny thing. I was driving and just passed a car with a real license plate “PIE”

  2. My favorite pie ever was a slice of Mississippi Mud Pie that i had when i was about 10 at the museum at Stone Mountain park.

Otherwise, I love cherry cream cheese pie that my ex-MIL taught me to make. YUM.

Oh, Mississippi Mud! What a fun memory! I bet you think about that trip every time you see that flavor. The cherry cream cheese sounds delicious, too.

So, you know I’m making up all kinds of reasons why that person picked “PIE” for the license plate. LOL

Oooo, both of those sound amazing! Lucky you! Is Mrs. Widds willing to share her recipes?

It only stands to reason that I would like all pie since my birthday is pie day. LOL!

  4. I’ve never been a pie fan (crust was my baking downfall, even before I had to go gluten and dairy-free), but I do need to bake a birthday cake for my mom, who would have been 62 last week. She may not be here to eat the cake, but I’ll enjoy it in her memory.

What a sweet way (pun intended!) to remember your mom! Make it a round cake, and you can still celebrate Pi Day, too.

      Big hugs, Lindsey!!!

  5. Coconut Cream Pie is my absolute fave, if it is fresh and homemade. Oh, and Lemon Meringue runs a close second.

I don’t make a lot of pie. Maple Pumpkin or Lemon Meringue mostly. It’s the crust, you see. And the whole if we bake it, we will eat it.

It’s hard not to eat the whole thing when they sound as yummy as those! Maple Pumpkin is going on my list when it’s pumpkin time again.
