One of the authors who inspired me the most to write has passed away January 23, 2018. Ursula K. Le Guin’s books were some of the very first science fiction and fantasy books I read. Her writing was insightful, forward thinking, and gorgeous.
She inspired me beyond her writing by the way she talked about writing.
She didn’t pull punches, but she encouraged. She didn’t sugar coat the industry, and she wanted things to be better.
She was presented the National Book Foundation’s Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters at the 65th National Book Awards on November 19, 2014.
This video spoke to me then and still does.
I received her book No Time to Spare for Christmas but haven’t had time to read it yet. I’m going to read it now.
Rest in Peace, Ms. Le Guin.
