L is for Longma

Diana Beebe, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, MDDW, Diana Beebe's Blog, science fiction, fantasy, young adultaz15_longmaA dragon and a horse! The perfect combination.

The longma is a fabled Chinese creature. It’s a winged horse with dragon scales. If it can walk on water without sinking, then it has to be a true dragon-horse.

I want one!

Legend had it that seeing one was an omen of a legendary, sage ruler.

The importance of the horse, especially larger ones that helped people get their work done, might be a reason horses were called dragons. The flying, dragon-scaled horse sounds amazing though.

Would you have a longma dragon-horse? Would you ride on the ground, in the air, or over water?
