Ink, as in Tattoo Ink

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyI have to admit that getting a tattoo is never something I considered doing. I never even thought much about ink until I was in college and learned that some people got their fraternity and sorority letters or symbols tattooed on their ankles (and various other places).

No, thank you.

Some of my friends love theirs. Others have had multiple images removed. Ouch, either way.

For my fantasy novel, Hunter Moon, I researched many different tattooing traditions and processes.

The warriors in my fictional world have tribal ink all over their bodies. The designs are invisible, except during religious rituals, mostly, and then they glow a soft blue. This is the bioluminous moon ink I mentioned earlier. The men wear ink, too, but only to show their rank and standing. They do not have citizenship and aren’t allowed moon ink.

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyThe photography documented that “Book Worm” hand tattoo here on Flickr.com if you want to see a few images in the process and what her hands looked like after two days.

These are a few links that I found during my edification:

There is SO much information out there, including pictures and designs and warnings and encouragement and videos. I took what I wanted and created the ink laws of the universe for my fantasy. đŸ™‚

Do you have or want tattoos? If so, spill the beans! Or, would you prefer to look at them rather than have them? Would you ever get one that couldn’t be seen except in certain lighting conditions?

A note to the Blogspotters in the A to Z challenge. I’m not able to log in to leave comments (google is weird or my browser settings are weirder), but I’ve been reading and enjoying!
