Heavy Whipping Cream. It’s Real.

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyThis is only the third post that I’ve written for the letter H. The first one made my head hurt. The second one was a real  s t r e t c h  for the letter. You would have had to use your imagination to make it work.

Instead, I give you heavy whipping cream, because, well, yum. And, also, because I hate those non-dairy whipped toppings in the frozen section that don’t have a single ingredient that I can pronounce.

While I’m not great about avoiding those unpronounceable chemicals, I am trying to be more aware of them and not feed them to my family.

So pie. (For fun, that link goes to a wiki site devoted to the TV show Supernatural. I couldn’t resist. It’s pie.)

It’s a recipe based on my grandmother’s chocolate pie called “Watergate.” Since I don’t have all the time in the world, though, I use a premade Oreo crust instead of making the pecan crust from scratch. (Ignore the fact that it’s a processed food with ingredients I can’t pronounce, because it’s made from Oreos. Don’t judge. This is about the topping.)

I whip up the heavy whipping cream with a little bit of powdered sugar. It tops off the pie nicely.

The only draw back is that it goes bad much faster than the fake topping stuff does. Does that stuff even go bad?

How on earth does chocolate pie go bad in my house? (*shocked face* I know!) It’s a freakish thing. I can’t even explain it.

Heavy whipping cream. It’s what’s for topping. 😉

What’s your favorite dessert? Do you whip your topping or go for the ready-to-go topping?
