This A to Z is Short a Few Letters of an Alphabet

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyI’m thinking about joining the A to Z Blogging Challenge for April. If you didn’t catch the challenge name, that’s 26 posts for the month. Yeah, 26. One for each letter of the alphabet. One everyday except Sunday.

They even made their own alphabet images for each letter, so I had some fun making a few mermaid letters. (Because I have too much free time, evidently. Yes, that was my sarcastic voice.) She may be laughing at me right now.

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyIt’ll be hard to pull off if I don’t plan ahead, but I think it’ll be a good way to push myself.

Coming up with a list of topics has been a challenge, so I’d love your input. Especially since I did a ton of research on little-known mythology and then the file crashed before I could save it.

Yeah, totally bummed.

What’s left in the recovered spreadsheet? It’s the first list I made related to different subjects that I’ve been researching for various book projects and gardening. A few double entries are mythological beasts, which is where I started with all the extra mythology research that got lost. 🙁

It’s a mixed bag of ideas, that’s for sure.

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyA few letters have nothing yet. Specifically: F, K, L, and Q. And X (if “eXtra harvests preserved” doesn’t count).

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyHere are the areas I’m thinking about, and, yes, it’s eclectic because I’m developing three different books and series for three different age groups (not at the same time):

  • American legends and folklore (especially about Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, and Benedict Arnold)
  • Writing and breaking cyphers
  • Computer encryption technology
  • DNA markers and cloning
  • Organic gardening
  • Annoying grammar rules and pet peeves

Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyI’ve also thought about including ideas from the subjects I’ve already researched for my mostly-finished books:

  • Diana Beebe's Blog, Mermaids Don't Do Windows, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasyHawaiian mythology, animals, plants, and customs. Oh, I just found my K topic. Thanks!
  • Tracking
  • Mythological creatures

Some of my other ideas are too History Channel-ish. *YAWN*

Your turn! Hit me with some ideas for F, L, Q, and X. If you’ve got other blog topic ideas for any other letters, let me know those, too. I might just think your ideas are better than mine.
