Incredible Mom

Diana Beebe's Blog, Diana Beebe, science fiction, middle grade fantasy, fantasy, Mermaids Don't Do WindowsI’ve been missing posting about comic book super heroes, because so many other things are going on around me in my head.

Today, I pay homage to the mother who has the perfect super power: elasticity.

Mrs. Incredible, formerly Elastigirl, from the movie The Incredibles, can stretch her body anyway imaginable.

Her real name is Helen Parr, and she’s a mother first. She turns herself into a parachute to save one of her children.

My netbook with its custom skin.

To reach across the room or under the table to smack an errant child on the back of the head (Gibbs style, but gently, of course), to use the highest cabinets without needing a step ladder, or to turn into a rubber raft to save children from a plane crash…

Mrs. Incredible is one of my favorite superheroes. (Don’t tell Spider-Man.)

I even had a skin made for my little netbook a few years ago. Yes, I used that laptop in public. 😀

To all the moms (and grandmoms and caregivers) out there who work their tails off at home, volunteer at schools, drive kiddos all over town, and work elsewhere and and and …

May we have all the elasticity and flexibility that we need.

Who’s your favorite superhero? What “supermom” power do you wish you had?
